November Butterflies

Sitting, talking after dinner Thanksgiving Day...

What is Bo telling my son? Was he complaining that Dr. Shane said no more table scrapes and a limited amount of food is unfair? Yes, Bocephus has been put on a diet!
The butterflies were thick on the marigolds. I would like to say there were hundreds, but probably more like 20 - 30.

The Bees were out enjoying their Thanksgiving feast too.

TThe Copper Canyon Daisies are putting on their show of the season.
We had a lovely restful Thanksgiving Day with much to be thankful for...
Son is employed again after being laid off for 6 months...
Daughter has gotten a full-time teaching position, when other more qualified teachers are still looking for work...
Frisky is hale and hearty...
and most of all, my mother is recuperating from her heart scare. We still haven't gotten the last word from the specialist, but from what we have heard so far, everything is fine. She is planning on being here the 12Th of December to help with the Christmas festivities.
We have so much that we take for granted to be thankful for.
I am thankful for getting to know so many of you!
What are you most thankful for?

Marigolds are not very good to attract butterflies, yet they came anyway. The first one is a Variegated Fritillary and the last one is a Painted Lady. Both stick around until very late in the season. I had a Question Mark butterfly in the yard today.

Flowers, butterflies, and shorts & sleeveless shirts on Thanksgiving? In what crazy tropical land do you live?! Oh, yeah, Texas! ;-)

What a beautiful post, Jen! Love and happiness shines all through it. I am grateful to have you for a friend. I am thankful for my family and all my good blogger friends.

I love your garden. Marigolds are one of my favourite flowers. Those butterflies are beauties. The next one you see will be me, flying over for a visit. LOL!

Glad you had such a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. My family makes me so happy it makes my heart feel like bursting. The many friends I've met in person and through blogging add spice and and joy to my life.

They are not people who make headlines in the horrible news stories. They are among the many kind and loving people on earth.

I'm thankful to have met you all!

There are so many things to be thankful for I couldn't begin to name them. One that tops the list is life and all that it entails.

Hope your week is great!

It's wonderful to see all those butterflies in your garden, MG! Much too cold here for butterflies anymore.

Your first photograph captures the whole meaning of Thanksgiving to me--sharing relaxing time with family and friends (and recuperating from eating too much, no doubt!). Glad to hear that everything is going well with your family and that your mother is going to be able to come for Christmas after all.

Rose, We have had a cold front blow in last night, and I think the Butterflies flew on that wind down to Mexico.

Susie, I often think of all the things I take for granted and don't even realize them for the blessings they are, and try to focus on being grateful. I think that is why Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday--because that is all it is about (plus the 'punkin pie).

Ah, Marie, that makes me feel so good to hear you say your family makes you so happy your heart almost bursts. I feel the same way. There is so much good in the world--especially with our families, it is too bad all the negative stuff is what makes news.

Gail, unfortunately, Bo still gets his snacks. His weight problems (and Chrissy's too) has a direct correlation to Loudon eating his meals in his high chair. They take their positions on each side of his chair, and manage to catch each morsel before it hits the ground. They do a good job of cleaning his legs of anything that falls down in his lap too.

Wendy, I am so glad you felt the mood I was in as I wrote the post. I just love Thanksgiving. I would love to have you fly in for a visit! Any time, my friend.

Don't forget flip-flops, Monica. What a difference a day makes. We all had to break out the sweaters this morning with the cold front that blew in during the night. :-(

Randy, Welcome to my blog! I think the butterflies came for the Zinnias and sunflowers, and stayed for the marigolds. I can't believe I forgot to post a picture of the butterflies on the sunflower! That was one the the main reasons I was writing this post!

Dear Jenny, how lovely to see bright flowers and butterflies, they are already a distant memory here, it is cold here and set to be minus 6 degrees Centigrade tonight which is around 21 in Fahrenheit!

Poor Bocephus! but I'm sure the vet knows best ;)

I'm so glad your Mother is doing well and that is excellent news about the jobs. I have often wondered how your brother-in-law is now, (I think it was in-law) I remember he was not at all well some time ago.

Rain moved in today, here. I expect the butterflies I photographed yesterday for today's blog post will not be about again soon. It's a joy to see the late ones.

I enjoyed your post, from the family photos, to all those awesome butterflies on the blooms. We do have much to be thankful for.

The Spanish lavender you asked about came from Ramona's little nursery up on the River Road as best I remember. If not there, then from Lowe's in Dothan, AL. I should have written it down.

Dear Shy Songbird,

Oh my! That is wintry weather you are having. It has become dreary and rainy here the past two days.

You have a very good memory. It is my brother-in-law that has been struggling with depression. He is still fighting an up-hill battle. I felt all along, it would be a long slow recovery, and so far, that seems to be the case. The doctors do seem to have his medication adjusted now. Thank you for asking about him.

Hugs,
Jenny

Cheryl,

Life is a series of ups and downs, I think. It is difficult, at times, to focus on the positive and develop a sense of gratitude...but it seems to multiply.

I thought the picture of Bo and Cliff was just precious. They have always had a very special relationship, and I think Bo thinks he comes just to see him!

I was so excited to get some butterfly pictures. It seems most of the butterflies are so quick and shy it's hard for me to get good photos, but on Thanksgiving Day they were out in such great numbers, and seemed to be taking their time, enjoying the sunshine.

Dear Wildlife Gardener,

Ah, thank you for saying such kind things about our Bocephus. We do think he is special too! We do love our pets--they truly are a part of the family.

Those last few sunny days were wonderful for the butterflies. It is rainy and dreary now, so I am very glad I took the time to get pictures of them.

It is good to be grateful for good health--so often we don't appreciate it until we loose it.

Your migrant geese and swans are wonderful. I am so glad that you are able to share Barleycorn with us as well as your love for it.

Dear Marnie,

It was so special to see all those butterflies Thanksgiving Day. I am glad I took the time to go out and get photos of them.

Yes, poor Bo doesn't have a choice in dieting--I need someone to stop filling my bowl so full! LOl!

Morning Glories in Round Rock said...

Dear Sue,

There is always something to be thankful for, isn't there? Sometimes we just have to dig a little deeper to find it.

Morning Glories in Round Rock said...

Dear NellJean,

Thanks for stopping by! I had a pleasant time stopping by your blog and getting to know you a little better.

Yes, the rain has set in here too. It has been rainy and dreary all day--so glad I took the time Thanksgiving to get the photos of the butterflies, because they are all gone now!

Frances,

It's nice to have some good news to celebrate occasionally! A day with butterflies is reason enough to celebrate in my book. Sadly, they are long gone now. We have had very cold weather for Austin!

Just stopped in to say "hi" and wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas, Jenny!
