Under The Weather

No, not me. Bocephus. He is so sick, I am quite worried about him. Wednesday I came home from work, and when I went to pet him, the side of his face was wet. On closer inspection, it was blood! I looked at it, cleaned it and put antibiotic ointment on it. He couldn't sleep that night--kept digging at the sore on his face. So as soon as I got the girls off to school the next day, I called the vet and took him in. Long story short, he has a nasty ear infection that went into the skin on the side of his face! I had never heard of such a thing, and of course feel like a horrible pet parent for not catching it sooner. He seemed to do better on the antibiotics late Friday and early Saturday, but has now taken a turn for the worse. He is very lethargic, and just looks so sad. His breathing seems to be labored when he climbs the stairs or goes outside. I am going to call the vet first thing tomorrow, and take him back in.

Please say a little prayer for him that he will be well soon. It is so much like having a child sick--I would much rather it be me than him!

Hi! My names Bocephus. Wanna play fetch?

Shhhhhh! Don't tell Tucker he's a cat. He thinks he is a dog, and that's a fine thing to be!

This was taken of me to supposedly show me "caught in the act". But I was framed I tell you! I am not naming names, but someone put the Sunday paper on the floor to lure me into doing it. I don't remember putting it in my mouth--I just woke up and it was scattered all around.

This was me when I was but a wee little pup. Handsome little guy, wasn't I? I'm not conceited--facts are facts, and my mom tells me I am handsome every day! I must say, it seems to be a consensus of everyone we meet!

Poor, poor Bocephus, I'm so worried about him now. Suffering upsets me terribly and animals are so helpless. I have always been besotted by dogs and have worried over each one we have had when ill.

I will keep Bocephus and you in my thoughts and prayers and hope so much that you will have good news soon, do please let us know how he fares.

I will definitely keep Bocephus in my thoughts and prayers, MG. Seeing these photos reminds me of my Sophie--she is still in the newspaper "eating" stage and also loves to sleep on our couch. Pets become such an important part of our family that it is almost like having a child sick. I hope Bocephus is better soon.

Hello Shy Songbird,

I understand exactly how you feel. I physically hurt when someone else is sick or hurt--especially children or helpless animals. I could never watch Disney shows growing up, because every show about an animal showed one getting hurt, and I would cry inconsolably.

Thank your for the well wishes and prayers. It makes such a difference. I'll be sure to give you an update.

Hi Monica, thanks for the good wishes. The vet says we just need to be patient. He is so tired because his body is working overtime to fight this infection...sigh...I want him better NOW!

Awww, poor little doggie. I hope he gets better soon. My daughter's dog got really sick and I thought for sure he wouldn't last the day. But - he pulled through and is running around once again.

Keeping you in my heart.
Hugs

Poor Bo, I hope the vet can help. I hate to see a pet in pain! Bless his little heart.

Rose, Yes, Sophie and Bo have a lot in common. When I come home, Bo runs to the wastebasket in the office and pulls out any paper he can find, and brings it to me and growls--wanting me to chase him. We always have to have a rousing game before I can do anything else. I KNEW something was wrong last Wednesday when he didn't do that when I came home.

Thanks for your prayers and good wishes. The vet says it is just going to take some time...it's hard to be patient when he looks so sad.

Thanks Marnie. Bo is my baby, and I just can't stand to see him hurting.

Thanks Wendy! I just can't believe how kind and understanding all my blogging friends are--it helps so much.

Oh, I know, Nola! Both Hubby and I have made the comment that we can't stand to see him hurting and so sad. He's like our baby, and we would rather it happen to us than him. Thanks for the good thoughts.

Oh Jenny, tearfully we have done our best to send healing wishes Bocephus' way. I do hope he has begun to turn the corner and/or another vet visit to make sure. May be fully recover to shred more papers in his sleep.

Mother Nature's Son is superb. This is the only place I don't shut the music off.
