The Weather Outside Is Frightful

Since I have nothing to post except expanses of dead plants, I have been looking back on old pictures. This one of a rare snow caught my fancy. I love to watch movies set in winter during the summer. It soothes my soul like eating a bowl of ice cream cools me. Doing both at the same time is even better! ;-)

Tuesday we were greeted by cooler weather. No rain, but lots of wind, which has been disastrous for the fire fighting efforts that have been going on for so long now. The last I heard, over 1200 homes have been destroyed, along with countless thousands of acres.  We are actively helping gather and distribute food and supplies to those who are homeless now. My heart goes out to them and all the brave fire fighters and emergency workers. They have all been without adequate sleep for so long. We keep asking ourselves how long can this go on, but the fires refuse to be satisfied, consuming everything in it's path. Whole towns are being destroyed. They are telling us this is the worst drought since 1854. Water restrictions are mandatory now, and with no rain in sight, we are all wondering how much longer we can go with the lake levels so low. Everyone is praying for rain. It is hard to understand the "why" of things sometimes. But I do know that the land and all of the wild things are crying out for rain. I would like to ask, if you care to, that you join us in lifting up prayers to God to send us rain to quench the fires and refresh us.

I have been hearing about the wildfires on the news for some time now; what a frightening situation this must be! It's ironic that places in the East are suffering from too much water, and yet Texas and other southwestern areas are in dire need of it. It's hard to understand why things are the way they are sometimes.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and all the people of Texas.

Oh my Jenny,
You brought tears to my eyes.

I have been watching the fires on the BBC News, and thought of you.

You have my prayers......

Thank you all for your good thoughts, but most of all your prayers. They are most appreciated.

Dear Jenny, you have my prayers. I hope those terrible fires stop soon.
How awful for everyone.

I heard about the fires on the news this summer. My heart goes out to all who have suffered.

I'm glad you didn't shut down your blog. How else would I hear about the pirate who didn't do anything or the watermellon-seed-spitting princess?

Be well.

Hi Jenny,
I haven't heard anything on the news about the fires lately. Did they get them all put out? Are people able to start rebuilding? I know there was a little rain awhile back, but I imagine much more is needed. I was praying when the fires were in the news. I need to remember to continue to pray for the area.

I hope you find some sweet woodruff. The nice thing about it, is it spreads quite a bit, but is easy to pull out when it goes too far.

Dear Jenny, I just popped over to wish you and yours a belated but very Happy New Year.

I do hope the devastation you wrote about here is not the reason for your absence, I hope and pray your home was not affected by this tragedy and that you have just been taking time off for the Christmas and New Year festivities.

I hope your neighbourhood has started to recover now and that those poor affected souls are starting to rebuild their lives.

Thank you so much for your caring words on my post last Summer, it was much appreciated, all my dear blogland friends have been so kind. I do hope we see you blogging again soon.

I love your little pirate on the previous post ;-)

Dear Jenny, I am sorry to keep badgering you but I am very worried particularly as I know you weren't too well last year and also because of the problems you had there with the terrible fires.

I totally understand you may have decided to give up blogging but I will include my email address so that if you can find the time and feel able you can perhaps just email me to let me know all is well....no need for explanations, I don't want to intrude at all....but just to put my mind at rest that you are OK.
