Watermelons and Wonderings

It's so hot,our biggest form of entertainment is eating watermelon...and having seed spitting contests.

Charley has a very competitive side, and takes her seed spitting very seriously.
 That must be why...
She has won in her division two years in a row.

I am sorry I haven't been around for the past few months. I have been dealing with health issues, and just didn't have the energy to blog.
Even after I started feeling better, I just felt stuck. Even when I would think I had an idea of what I wanted to say,
When faced with a blank page, my mind would go blank as well. I have thought about shutting my blog down, but something would stop me--probably just more indecision. But I have decided I must make a decision to either get back to blogging, or shut it down.  I hope that everyone is well, and thank you to all who have checked in periodically with me.

Hi Morning Glories - may your energy come back so you can do whatever you want to.... like take fun photos of watermelon seed spitting!

Lately I've been afraid to even start writing - no matter where it starts, everything ends up as a weather-whine.
Once it rains and gets cooler there may be a big burst of pent-up posts from Texas ;-)

Wow, an award certificate for spitting watermelon seeds the furthest. That's cute.

I'm sorry you've not been feeling well. I also hope you don't close up your blog. Blogging isn't something that you have to do on a regular basis. It doesn't have to be long, it can be a word or two, a thought, a picture. Do what makes you feel comfortable.

Love and hugs to you,

FlowerLady

Jenny, I'm so glad you're back! I have been wondering how you are doing. I'm so sorry to hear of your health problems--I do hope you're on the road to recovery and feeling much better now.

I understand your indecision about blogging; for one thing, it does take up a lot of time. And I know sometimes if I've been away or too busy to blog for a few days or more, it's often hard to get back into the "groove." But I sure would miss my blogging friends if I gave it up. I hope you'll decide to stay, even if you don't post very often--we would miss you!

P.S. Hope Charley's arm is healing. Congrats on her certificate--not everyone can spit watermelon seeds!!

I am so glad you are back, Jen! I hope you are feeling well and happy now, although in this heat....

Your pics are so sweet. Watermelon spitting contest?? How fun! Grandkids are the best, aren't they? Well, I posted a very light-hearted post today too. Just had nothing to post about.

But I'm glad you're back. Don't shut down your blog, it's a nice way to socialize and keep up with blogger buddies.

Your sunflower is gorgeous!!!
Sending hugs

Long time no see (or hear). I haven't blogged in over a year, but mine's still there; I pop over to google reader every once in a while and read a bit.
It's so good to hear from you! I think of you often, as my morning glories are wild and full despite the heat! Also, didn't you send me hollyhock seed? Someone did and I thought it was you; they bloomed this year and are/were beautiful! If I ever post again, I'll put the photo of them up.
Just wanted to say "hi" and let you know you're thought of!

Oh Annie, I know! That is all any of us here in Texas do is weather whine. But this summer has been so bad, that is the only pleasure to be gotten from it. My garden is mostly dead, and I am wondering if we will ever get rain again. So good to hear from you. Hope we will both be reporting cooler wet weather SOON!

Thank you FlowerLady for the kind comments. I did feel like I had to try to write something, just to break through the silence--and get back in the groove. Hopefully now, it will be easier to post occasionally.

Hugs,
Jenny

Rose, thank you for your kind words. I have missed hearing from everyone, and have often wondered how everyone was doing.

Charley is doing fine. She has had several emergency room visits this summer. Nothing too serious, but she is very impulsive, and leaps before she looks--often.

Wendy, don't get me started on the heat! Over 45 days of triple digit temps--it has been unbearable!

I think the reason, I finally forced myself to post again, was wanting to check on all my blogger friends. I often wondered how you were doing while I was drawing bloggy blanks.

Hugs!
Jenny

Nola, I am so glad the Hollyhock and Morning Glory seeds I sent you are doing well. Mine are struggling. This summer has not been a good one in Central Texas.

It's good to know you are around even though you haven't posted in a while either. It's hard--there just doesn't seem to be enough hours in the day to get everything done.

Hi Jenny,

I have thought about you many times during the last few months.
I am so sorry to hear you have been so unwell. I do so hope your strength returns and life gets back to how it should be.

Fun photos.....watermelon seed spitting.....a new one of me :)

Perhaps you could blog when you actually feel like it.....it does not matter if it is only once a year. You have friends and followers who will always visit, of that I am sure.

Sending love and hugs.....

Hi Jenny, I was tickled to see a comment from you. I hope you are on the mend.

I enjoyed seeing Charlie's photos. Congratulations on her watermelon spitting prowess.

I keep thinking I should take a break from blogging to get some cleaning done, but I keep thinking of things I want to post about. One thing that you do, that I used to do, but don't try to do anymore, is reply to each commenter on my blog. Instead, I have keep their comment in my email until I visit their blog and leave a comment. I try to answer questions both on my blog and theirs, but sometimes it is just on their blog.

I hope to hear from you again in the near future. Take Care!

Hi Jenny,
It's good to hear from you. I missed you. I hope you continue blogging. I have always enjoyed reading your posts. Maybe communicating with friends will help inspire you - LOL. I love hearing about Charley (the watermelon seed-spitting champion) and Louden (the pirate). Take care.
