A journal of a gardener in Round Rock, Texas learning how to deal with clay and limestone "soil" and the heat! Whew! But also the joy that comes from getting out in the garden and enjoying nature and family.

Happy Thanksgiving
Just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.
Sorry I have been so quiet lately. I have been sick for over a month. First with a virus, then bronchitis, and last but not least, pneumonia. I think I am finally on the road to recovery, but do think my gardening is over until next year. I left the garden in quite a mess, with lots of projects half started. I am sure it will all be there waiting for me when I am ready to get back out again.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and I hope you are completely well soon. Glad you are on the mend.
Hugs ~ FlowerLady
Dear Jenny, I am so very sorry to hear you have been so ill and do hope you continue to recover. I have suffered from respiratory problems all my life and was rushed into hospital with severe pneumonia a few years ago so I understand what you have been going through.
Do not worry about your garden, as you say it will still be waiting for you next year. At least you have some 'half started projects', my garden has unfortunately had very little attention this year and has lots of projects waiting to be started :) You must wait until you feel much stronger, your health is more important.
I will be thinking of you Jenny and wishing you well and I hope you and yours are able to enjoy the Thanksgiving celebrations.
Dear FlowerLady,
Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am very glad I am better too! There were days when I wondered if I would ever be well again!
Happy Turkey Day with lots of hugs!
What a cutie--you have much to be thankful for this year, Jenny.
Sorry to hear you have been unwell--pneumonia can really sap your strength, so take care and rest as much as possible. The garden will be there next spring.
Wishing you and your family a happy and healthy Thanksgiving!
Don't you worry about that garden. It isn't going anywhere.
Take care of yourself and have a Happy Thanksgiving.
Dear Shy Songbird,
Thankfully, I was not hospitalized. I had what they termed "Walking Pneumonia", which is funny, because there was no walking to be done--I felt like I had been run over by a truck! Poor Bo suffered too--as he didn't get his walks every day like he needs. He and Tucker were with me for the entire time never leaving my side. I couldn't ask for better nurses.
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Aside from all the good food, we concentrate on being thankful, and I don't think we do enough of that. We all go around the table and tell what we are thankful for. It is always fun to hear everyone's personal thankfulness. I would like to thank you for being such a good friend!
Hugs,
Jenny
Dear Jenny......firstly that little darling made me smile from ear to ear. Beautiful.
Secondly.....Oh my, that is a bit of a bashing. I do hope that you are on the road to recovery and taking great care of yourself.
The garden will be waiting for you in the Spring......
And lastly.....I send my best wishes for you and your family to have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Although we do not celebrate here, I think it is a wonderful reason to get together with those that we love and count our blessings.
Hi Jenny,
Here, I thought you were all tied up in grandchild business, but you were sick. I've had bronchitis and pneumonia, too. It really zaps you, doesn't it? You want to sleep, but the coughing prevents a good rest.
I'm glad to hear you are on the mend.
Happy Thanksgiving to you, too!
Hugs,
Sue
That blue hat looks awesome with Gibson's baby blue eyes! What a sweetie!
Hi Rose,
There is always much to be thankful for, this year especially. Little Gibson is such a joy, although big brother Loudon is still not convinced. I hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful.
Thanks for the new picture of Gibson. I'm sure he's more adorable each day.
Hope you are feeling better and enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Hi Susie,
I hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful. It is always my favorite holiday. I love thinking about all that I am thankful for--and the pumpkin pie is nice too.
Dear Sue,
I am feeling much better, but find my energy level is still low. I have fibromyalgia, and it seems to have kicked into high gear since I have been ill.
I hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving with your family. We have so much to be thankful for!
Hi Marie,
Hope your Thanksgiving was nice. I love having a holiday that is just for getting together with family, being thankful, and of course good food.
Gibson is quite a little butterball. I told his mother we needed a little turkey costume for him, and he could be our centerpiece for Thanksgiving. LOL! He has had GERD and colic, but is getting better. Even though, it has been difficult to deal with, he is healthy and thriving. For that, we are very thankful.
Dear Cheryl,
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It is so wonderful to get together with family and friends and think of all we have to be thankful for. Of course, little Gibson topped the list at our house. He has had colic and GERD, as his brother Loudon did, but we knew what to look for and caught it so much earlier. He is still uncomfortable, but getting better.
Yes, I have had a time of it with my health too. I am so much better, but still have no energy. It is quite frustrating to have so much to do with the holidays coming, and no "get-up-and-go" to get it done! I think my theme this year will be "Simplicity"! LOL!
Hope you get better soon.
Hi Jen,
Do look after yourself. Pneumonia isn't funny. And if you have no energy, just let things be for a while. Your garden will rest too.
I read about Gibson's gerd and colic. Sounds like we have the same grandchildren. Loudon's paved the way for Gibson, just as Jasmine paved the way for little Nathan. Well, they are both doing much better now. Their GI stuff was due to an immune problem, which is being looked after.
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. We in Canada celebrate in October, so ours is done. I love Thanksgiving too. There is no shopping to do except for the food; everyone brings something for the dinner, and we also spend time voicing our gratefulness.
Hang in there, Jen.
Hugs
