A journal of a gardener in Round Rock, Texas learning how to deal with clay and limestone "soil" and the heat! Whew! But also the joy that comes from getting out in the garden and enjoying nature and family.
Congratulations, Grandma, and to the happy parents! What a precious bundle of joy; I hope you have been getting lots of cuddle time. How does Loudon like his new baby brother?
Thanks Rose. Gibson is a cuddle bunny, and I take advantage every chance I get. Being a Grandma makes one realize how fleeting this newborn time is. Loudon is under-whelmed by his baby brudder. He always wants me to hold him so Mommy can play with him.
Thanks Marie. We feel very blessed that he is here, the birth was relatively easy, and he is a healthy thriving little baby. He has already gained almost 2 pounds!
Thank you, Susie. I thought his parents did a good job picking out his name. They kept it a secret until he was here. All of us (except Loudon) think he is very special.
Dear Jenny what a little beauty he is and I love his sleepsuit with the ducks on :) I'm sure you are all thrilled with his arrival, well apart from poor Loudon of course :) I don't expect his 'nose will be out of joint' for too long though...and he will have such fun bossing Gibson around when they are a little older!!
Thank you so much for your sweet words and indulging this Grammy's need to boast a bit. We are all (except for Loudon, of course) so excited about Gibson. There is nothing quite like having a baby in the house again.
Oh, shoot, the music went off when I came to leave a comment. The last thing I heard was something about the old folks spitting and chewing. LOL
What a sweetie! Welcome to the world, Gibson!
Loudon, you'll make a fine big brother. Just remember he won't be ready to play peek a boo until he's a little older. (My son tried to play that with his newborn sister, but she didn't know how to yet.)
Thanks for your comment on my foliage follow-up, Jenny.
Loudon is not at all impressed with little Brudder. He can't do anything--Peek-a-boo is only one of many things he can't do--how boring!
Little Gibson is equally un-impressed with this big bright noisy world. He especially is having problems with the eating thing. We haven't gotten the offical diagnosis yet, but we suspect he has GERD as Loudon did. The Drs have restricted his mom's diet--no dairy or soy. We are hopeful it doesn't get to gluten too. She lost so much weight on her restricted diet with Loudon.
Sue, I am always amazed at all your beautiful plants. You have so many--so much variety. I always enjoy visiting your blog.
Thanks Cindy. One of the joys of grandparenting is knowing their childhood time is limited and precious, and making the most of every second. We now have two granddaughters and two grandsons. It will be up to son to break the tie--oh, the pressure! And since he is not married, all I can say is, "Get Busy!" ;-)
Thanks Dee. Those sweet baby cheeks along with their little fingers and toes are just irresistible--and that sweet new baby smell--it's better than "new car" smell. ;-)
Hi Jenny, Congratulations. Just so exciting. I am sure you will get much pleasure from the new arrival.......I could just pick the little one up. Holding a baby in ones arms is just the most precious gift. Enjoy, my friend.
Hi Jenny, How are things going? Did Gibson end up having GERD? I'm not sure what that is. Our KJ takes meds for acid reflux. He used to vomit almost every day after eating meals. They are not giving him anything with eggs in it, because they think he may be allergic to them.
Hey, I wanted to tell you KJ is expected to become a big brother the end of April. I kind of thought they'd just have the one, but they are excited about having another. I'm not sure how I could love another child as much as I do KJ, but once it comes, I'm sure that thought will go away.
