Sights and Sounds of Summer

lemonade stand 2010 001

Not only did Charley and her friend Sam make over twenty dollars at their lemonade stand, I had to make an emergency run to the store to replenish their supplies. They had people waiting for a cold glass of lemonade!

Ive mentioned before I love the name Charley for a girl, and my niece is called Sam! Also dig the music on your page--left it up while reading others' blogs! :)

I remember selling Koolaid from a stand like that. That was a few years ago:) I'm sitting here smiling thinking about it.

Cheryl, Charley is a natural salesman--or should I say--saleswoman. She has made money selling dandelions door-to-door! One look at that freckled little face and a wilted bunch of weeds, and everyone melts (thankfully, I keep her well supplied). She could sell popsicles to a polar bear. LOL!

Monica, Charley suits her so well. She is not a girly-girl at all. She hates pink and lace and all the little boys want to be her best friend because she can play football and hunt bugs better than them. Charley and Sam are a pair! TNT is a good description! What one doesn't think of the other will. :-)

Glad you like my music. My kids roll their eyes at my choices...but then, I roll my eyes at theirs.

Hi Marnie, Glad I made ya smile! Isn't that just a part of summer to have a Lemonade Stand (or Kool-Aid)? They stayed out for 4 hours manning that stand--I was so happy to help them do something constructive! We have turned off the TV this summer, and it has been so nice. They really are coming up with some nice activities.

I enlarged the photo of the girls, and am guessing Charlie is the one on the right. The other gal looks more laid back. Are their personalities reflected accurately in that photo? LOL What a great pair!

I'm glad the girls are finding things to do without watching TV. Our two and a half year old has gotten started watching TV. We have it off here most of the day, but he wants it on when he starts getting tired, or when he first wakes up from a nap.

I remember having Kool-aide stands on our corner, too. That would have been in the 1960s.

I'm glad to hear you're having a good summer.

Dear Jenny, I can see you are all having a wonderful Summer and good for you for vetoing the TV, so much more fun to sell lemonade :) It brings back memories of me and my brother sitting by the garden gate with a little table of old toys for sale, we thought it was wonderful and most of the neighbours indulged us :)

I see we have very similar post titles :)

Oh, what fun! Reminds me of the days when my girls set up lemonade stands. Sounds like they did very well--I imagine this heat didn't hurt business either:)

What a cute pic! Recently there was a lemonade stand in our neighborhood and then the day after a sweet tea stand.

Hi Sue! This summer seems to be flying by...I already am starting to think school supplies and clothes.

Believe it or not, Charley is the one on the left (looks can be deceiving). Sam is about 6 months older than Charley, but half her size. She was a preemie--3 months early. She may be small, but she is scrappy!

Dear Shy Songbird,

How funny! We do have similar post titles. Great minds think alike!

I think it is wonderful how many childhood memories the girl's lemonade stand have sparked.

I hope you are enjoying your summer. You certainly have had a lot of little creatures to photograph.

Rose, The timing was good for their stand. They set it up about 4:30, and I made them come in at 8:30! It was a hot Friday, and I think people felt like they had time to stop and get a cup.
