Happy Birthday Char!

What's better than having a birthday party when you are turning ten? Having two parties! We always have a family party for the grand kids, and then they have a separate party with their friends. Even though I made both cakes for the parties, I made sure I was long gone by the time the guest arrived at the kid party. The following pictures are of the family party with a special mystery guest who came to sing "Happy Birthday" to Charley.

After a special dinner and cake, the best part comes when Charley gets to open her presents. She is holding up an architecture drawing kit and money--always the right size and color!

A giftcard to Target. Just what she had been asking for so she can get the exact Littlest Pet Shop toy she wants (and needs)!

And here is our special mystery guest. He had to come incognito so he wouldn't get a barrage of paparazzi--so annoying!

After a costume change, here he is singing his heart out for Char.

Do any of you remember a thousand years ago, the song Inagaddadavida by Iron Butterfly? That's kind of what it sounded like, only to the tune of "Happy Birthday". The words went something like this: Uh,huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, Charlotte, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh, huh!

The crowd went wild, and rushed on the stage and kissed him. What is a star supposed to do? If you are as gracious as Loudon, you just give them a kiss back!

Happy Birthday to Char! I hope I'm not too late for a piece of cake:) She must feel quite grown-up having achieved double digits. Gift cards and the green stuff seem to delight my older grandkids the most as well. Even the four-year-old shakes out his cards to see if there is any money in them.

And how exciting to have a celebrity singer at the party! He's a cutie.

Thanks for the birthday wishes for Char, Rose. Come on over and I'll bake a fresh cake just for you! Although we are knee deep in Girl Scout Cookies right now. You should see my dining room table! Boxes and Boxes of GS cookies--a dieter's nightmare!

I have 2 10 year old grand girls now and this weekend we ar having a party for the Feb. birthday girl. We try to have thenm for most of the grand girls, too. This one wants the green stuff to by one of those hand held games.

Your super star is just a doll! What a cutie and how do they know what the mike is for at that age?! Glad all had a great time.

Happy Birthday to Char! How quickly they grow up! Your birthday singer is adorable. I like the family parties best, avoiding the "friends" parties at all cost; I'm too old for the noise and confusion. Hope she had fun at both her soirees!

Awww - cute kids. Looks like a lot of fun!

How's the Cedar Fever? I hope you're feeling better. Good to hear from you.

Beckie, it is amazing how quickly they learn to like the "green stuff". Char wants a wii, but I think the price is exorbitant. She is plenty happy with her Littlest Pet Shop for now.

We are all so in love with our little Rock Star. He particularly liked having the mic on echo. It kept him entertained the whole afternoon.

Nola,The Birthday Girl had a great time. She invited three little boys to her kids party along with her girl friends. She is quite a tom-boy, and enjoys playing with boys as well as girls. Two of the little boys told her they "liked, liked" her. She wrinkled up her nose and said, "That is just gross!" Sometimes I wish they would never grow up. LOL!

Thanks, Marie. This grandma thinks they are pretty special.

The Cedar Fever is still a problem. My ears are so clogged I am having trouble hearing the phone ring, and talking on it is torture. Just a few more weeks to go before the Cedar count goes down.

Dear Cielo, Of course you can have Loudon to enjoy a bit! There is nothing like a wee one to make you stop rushing and slow down and enjoy them just being a baby. It has been one of the biggest joys of being a grandparent.

Firstly, I love the nickname Charley for Charlotte; my niece Samantha always went by Sam (um, still does!) so to me Sam is a girl's name! :) Secondly, the photo of Loudon getting a kiss is just great! Finally, here's a photo my Sam and me being silly a long time ago when she was maybe 11 or 12 (she's 23 now!).

I really enjoyed the pictures of the birthday party and of Christmas. It is really great to be able to see pictures of relatives I have never met yet. Your Mom sure looks great! Hope I can see her again sometime this year. I really enjoy your blogs. Won't be long now until you can be out gardening again!
Hope you and the whole family have a Very Happy Valentine's Day!

If you knew Charley, you would know how well it fits her! Looks like you and Sam had a lot of fun. Aunt's are the best. They can be so much sillier than moms, and sometimes, nieces feel more comfortable telling them things they would never tell their mother. Your Sam is all grown up now, isn't she? Time goes so fast.

Dear Ozark's Farm Gal,
I am so happy you stopped by. We are so looking forward to the family reunion this summer--so I hope it happens! It will be so good to see people I haven't seen in years, and to meet relatives I've never met before!
