It must be Fall!

The cats are enjoying drowsing in the fresh air of an open window.

The Mexican Mint Marigold is beginning to bloom.

I'm not sure what this yellow flower is behind the Russian Sage, but I think it is a form of Aster. It blooms October every year, and gets 5 - 6 feet tall, and as you can see here, has a tendency to flop. I think it looks nice with the purple of the sage.

I am still recovering from having 30 middle schoolers invade our house yesterday. I have been cooking and baking since Friday, getting ready for them. All went well; they came, they ate, they sang, they listened to the devotional, so I guess it can be labeled a success. Libby asked me why we wanted to have it at our house. I couldn't help but laugh. I told her it wasn't that we wanted to be invaded by the church youth group, but we wanted to do it for her. I hope it makes an impression on her--that we love her, and want to do what we can to make her growing-up years fun and the best that we can for her!
Emily and I went to The Natural Gardener on Saturday. I finally used my gift certificate from my birthday that she had gotten me! I have so many lovely perennials to plant this week. I was going to start first thing this morning, but I found myself just hit with this longing to be lazy and decided to blog instead!

Your cats remind me of our Toby. He loves to sleep in windows, too, or scope out the action outside. It's hard to believe you have perennials just starting to bloom, but I have to remember it is much warmer where you are:)
You're entitled to be a little lazy today--30 middle schoolers all in your house? You are one brave lady!

Your Russian sage is huge! I've never seen sage that large, I'll have to try to grow some Russian next year!

You had a hectic weekend. Laughing at your cats laying in the window. You almost need to get a bigger window;)
Your dog with the sunglasses on the sidebar is cute. Mine would never hold still for glasses.

Oh, you're entitled to take a lazy, blog day, after the "invasion". LOL.
I love children and I'll bet you had a good time. Sweet little Libby, "out of the mouth of babes" I'm glad you gave her such a positive answer.
Cats seem to be enjoying themselves. Why not?
Thanks for your encouragement on my blog.

Thanks for your comments on my blog. Would love to send you an email, but I can't find your email address on your blog. Will you email me? It's on my blog in the My Profile page.

What a brave person you are. All those kids! I hope it all went well and yes we do things for our loved ones just because don't we? Your cats know how to enjoy the fall. I really liked that yellow with the sage-great conbo.

Cheryl, Thank you. My one hope and prayer, above all others, is that the granddaughters will grow up knowing that we love them and care.

Rose, the cats do love to watch the world from their window perch. Tucker will get so excited watching a lizard or squirrel, that he will fall out of the window. He will look around to see if anyone saw, and then hop back up. If cats could talk, I'm sure he would say, "I meant to do that!"

Nola,

Even though you can't eat Russian Sage, it smells wonderful. It dies back every winter and seems to spread and come back bigger every spring. My patch started with three little sprigs.

Joy, I will try to get a close up of the yellow flower to post. Maybe you can I.D. it for me. Thanks for stopping by!

Marnie, Bo has a typical hound dog personality. Whatever we want to do to him is just fine. He does look sad when I put reindeer antlers on him at Christmas, and my DH will feel sorry for him and take them off.

Dear Wendy,
Invasion is right! LOL!
The granddaughters need lots of positives to make up for all the negatives they have had in their lives.
I am sending you lots of positively good wishes for you and Jasmine. Please let me know if there is anything I can do.
Lots of hugs filled with love,
Jenny

Hello IGW! Yes, I think a good time was had by all. As for me, I'm just glad it's over. You can't imagine the panicky feeling I had when I opened the door and kids started filing in! I thought, what have I gotten myself into this time?!? LOL!

Beckie,
Hmmmmmm, I'm not sure brave is the right word! ;-)
I really like the sage and aster combo too. It was one of those happy accidents that I can't take credit for. I had the yellow flowers on the other side of the fence, and it jumped the fence and seeded itself next to the Russian Sage. I have been watching it grow all summer, and I am so glad I left it.

Did you figure out what the yellow flower near the Russian sage is? I just planted a rattlesnake master near my Russian sage; I saw this plant combo in the Millennium Garden in Chicago and they plants sort of hold each other up, and both tend to reach for the sun.

Hi Monica!

Thanks for stopping by!

No, I am going to try to get a close-up to publish, to see if anyone can help me I.D. it, but I do think it is a form of aster. My camera is not the best at close-ups (that's my story, and I'm sticking to it!).

Rattlesnake Master would do a good job of holding up the Russian Sage and compliment it's color. I do love white blossoms.

Hi, I wondered over from Blotanical. Your Russian sage looks really pretty. Here in my area it doesn't seem to grow as well.

I can't believe you had 30 youngsters at your house. Oh my goodness!!Sounds like a good time was had by all though.

Hi Susie,

I am so glad you stopped by.

Russian Sage seems to do well here. It dies back every winter, and comes back stronger and bigger every year. My patch has grown by leaps and bounds!

Yes, I probably need to have my head examined VOLUNTEERING to have that many pre-teens in my house! Next time, I hope to have things set up to have the devo and eat outside.

They're so cute... who wouldn't enjoy sitting by that cozy window and just enjoy life as it goes by! Ahhh, wish I'd be a cat!
